The half portrait of Johanna Staude (1883-1967) is one of Klimt’s last portraits. Note worthy is the simplicity of the composition. We know that Klimt was always interested in the lives of his models and that he tried to support them not only financially. So it might have been on recommendation of Gustav Klimt that Johanna Staude found work in the house hold of Peter Altenberg.
