The view of the Litzlbergkeller like in this painting is only possible from a boat on the lake. It is very likely that Klimt rather used contemporary photographies as reference for this specific sight. The painting was commisioned by Otto Primavesi. The actually very cosy little snack-bar appears in Klimt?s painting more like a hermetically closed haunted house.
